Nuclear Liabilities Review 2009
Case Study - British Energy Nuclear Liabilities Review (42.0 KiB)
RVA Group has once again supported British Energy in its periodic reassessment of the assets and liabilities of its nuclear power plants, having been appointed to assess a range of structures within the ‘non-controlled’ areas of stations at Hartlepool, Heysham 1, Heysham 2 and Dungeness B.
The RVA team of five specialist consultants provided a range of knowledge and services including demolition engineering, estimating and work breakdown structure (WBS) compilation.
RVA provided specialist project management services to ensure the safe and best-value demolition of eight hyperbolic cooling towers on two Magnox sites – Calder Hall and Chapelcross.
Demonstrating unparalleled experience within this field, the insight of RVA’s demolition and explosives engineers proved invaluable. For example the consultants authored and assisted in the development of Technical Notes for the projects, and carried out the continued on-site auditing of explosives activities and preparations.
‘I should like to take the opportunity to thank the RVA team….this has been an invaluable part of the work and aided us in the production of Baseline Decommissioning Plans. I would also like to acknowledge the flexible and professional approach….’
